I love, love, love my kitchen gadgets! Sometimes a little too much. I am known for keeping a kitchen full of gadgets because they make life so much simpler during cooking time. After a long distance move, I was forced to part with most of my gadgets. What I discovered is that there some specific kitchen tools that you absolutely need in your kitchen and others that not so much. If you are moving or getting married and don't exactly know which are the tools you'll really need in your kitchen, let me help you out. Don't go out and about spending money on things you might never use or will only use once in your life. Here is a simple list of the 27 gadgets I find most important to keep in a home.

*Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and I will earn a commission if you purchase through those links. I have either used or would like to use the products below and recommend them because they are helpful and products that I like.

    1-  Silicone Spatula

A good silicone spatula comes very handy when flipping pancakes. Trust me. I tried flipping pancakes with a regular spoon once and that just won't do. You'll end up with some pretty messed up pancakes.

    2-  Meat Thermometer

A meat thermometer is a great tool to have available, specially during holiday season. You wouldn't want to overcook your Thanksgiving turkey would you?

    3-  Nonstick Tongs

I own two of these. You never know when one would get misplaced.

    4-  Potato Masher

A potato masher is not only good for making delicious fluffy mashed potatoes. It works just as well with other similar dishes like Dominican Mangu!

    5-  Measuring cups and spoons

You'll need this because baking is a very precise science.

    6-  Glass Measuring Cup Set

    Same reason as above.

    7-  Garlic Press

Makes mincing garlic a lot faster and easier.

    8-  Meat Tenderizer

This is a serious stress reliever. Don't believe me? Try it.

    9-  Kitchen Timer

Perfect to keep track of time outs, and baking time.

    10- Tostonera

Because those tostones won't press themselves.

    11- Pilon

This tool comes in handy for pressing garlic and other seasonings. I mostly use it to make mofongo, though.

    12- Microplane Zester

Great for zesting citrus or spices into your food.

    13- Prep Mixing Bowls

These you'll be using every day.

    14- Strainer

It is always best to have a few strainers in different sizes. You'll need different sized for straining different type of ingredients.

    15- 6-sided grater

It's always good to have size options when grating.

    17- Can Opener

Get a good can opener. Some will brake on the first or second use.

    18- Peeler

This tool makes peeling fruits and vegetables so much easier and faster. I'll say it can save quite a chunk of prep time, if peeling with a knife is not your thing.

    19- Slicer

Just don't slice your finger off.

    20- Silpat Baking Sheet

It prevents food from sticking to your baking sheet when baking and saves you quite a bit of money from having to buy parchment paper.

    21- Wine Bottle Opener

    Because wine.

    22- Knife Sharpener

For a long time, I was changing my knives every few months throwing away quite a bit of money. That is until I found the perfect knife sharpener.

    23- Cutting Board

A good cutting board is always great to have for cooking, but it also serves as a beautiful serving tray for fruit and cheeses at a party.

    24- Scoop

    Because ice cream.

    25- Salad Spinner

Because sometimes you need to eat healthy.

    26- Wooden Spoons

Wooden spoons are perfect to use when cooking on non-stick pans because they prevent any scratching of the pans, which could potentially be dangerous to your health.

    27- Rubber Spatula

If you enjoy baking, you know just how important it is to have a few rubber spatulas in your kitchen. If you are new to baking, this is the one tool you'll be using the most besides the mixing bowls that is.
