Frequently Asked Questions
This recipe makes enough for 4 drinks, and each drink contains 1.5 ounces of alcohol. It’s not a particularly strong drink, but enough to get the party started! If you prefer a stronger drink you can add more, or less if you’d like it weaker.
Rum is the traditional alcohol used in mojitos. The flavors of the mint, lime, and cranberry juice means that you don’t get a strong alcohol flavor in this cranberry mojito. In a pinch, you could use another clear spirit like gin or vodka.
Use a white rum, also known as silver or light rum. It has a mellow flavor and works great with the other ingredients. You don’t need to spend lots of money on a top-shelf rum as we only use a little.
Use fresh mint leaves to make your Cuban cocktail. Spearmint works great as it has a mild and slightly sweet flavor, whereas peppermint has a stronger flavor.
Recipe Notes and Tips
- Don’t over muddle the mint. Just work it til it releases an aroma.
- Used crushed ice rather than ice cubes. These will help chill the drink and the glass evenly.
- You can double the recipe and make a pitcher. Just don’t add the glass til just before serving.
