    5-minute Hot Chocolate

    Last Updated: Mar 20, 2020

    Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Warm, decadent and topped with delicious marshmallows, this is the best 5-minute hot chocolate you'll ever have.

Three marshmallows floating in a mug of hot chocolate.

This past weekend we had a case of brutal, inhuman, absolutely vicious cold weather, only a few weeks after the groundhog predicted an erly spring. I was truly left wondering if we can really believe in anything anymore.

I mean, it was absolutely bricks outside!

If you were to spend five minutes out in the cold, your face would begin to feel like a pack of frozen meat right out of the freezer. I am not in any way exagerating. Temperatures went down to single digits and the wind factor, which was wipping hard and cold, made it feel a good number of degrees below zero. If that's cold enough to freeze a pack of meat, or your face (whatever), in a matter of minutes, I don't know what is.

The good thing is that I can make a killer hot chocolate in only 5 minutes to help the body warm up fast.

When you come home from running a gizzillion errands on a day when you feel your body completely frozen while the really cold wind was punching you in the face, there is nothing better than being able to whip up a really good hot chocolate in just 5 minutes to help the body warm up.

My kids love this hot chocolate, but then again, it's chocolate. Who in the world does not love chocolate?

Hot chocolate drink served in a white mug.

To make it, add milk, cocoa powder and sugar to a pot over medium-high heat. I'm going to give you the secret ingredient that makes this super easy and quick hot chocolate the best you'll ever taste. I add... wait for it.

    ...cinnamon.

Yes! It's that simple. Just add a little cinnamon to help enhance the flavor and give it the touch that really makes it feel homemade. Let all the ingredients combine, while it simmers. After 5 minutes, remove from the heat and serve. Top with big, gooey marshmallows.

This 5-minute hot chocolate will give you warm, cozy feelings that will have you reaching for the remote control and the nearest blanquet. Warning: Nothing else will get done that day.

How do you warm up on cold days? Do you have a favorite hot chocolate recipe?
