Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces fresh ginger root (about 225 g), peeled and lightly crushed
  • 4 ½ cups water (1.06 liters)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Sugar or honey, to taste

Instructions

  • Lightly crush the ginger using a wooden spoon or the side of a knife to release its flavor.
  • In a medium saucepan, heat the water over medium-high heat until it begins to boil.
  • Add the ginger and cinnamon stick. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer into cups.
  • Sweeten to taste with sugar or honey before serving.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of ginger for a stronger or milder flavor.
  • You can simmer longer for a more intense tea.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and comfort.
